Turkey Trot and Pictures

Get ready for a long one...We had a great Thanksgiving and for that matter I had a great week off! I took all of last week off from work. It was great to get stuff done, run in the daylight, and relax. We started off the week by going to Lake Texahoma to celebrate our friend Lindsay's birthday. Then we had a few relaxing days.

On Thursday, Justin and I got up early to head out for the Turkey Trot. I was worried b/c my shin splints had been acting up and my runs earlier in the week were very painful. But I really wanted to run in the Turkey Trot. I had been looking forward to it since last year! So I bought a brace and went out to brave the pain and cold. It turned out to be a great race! It was so much fun to run with over 30,000 runners. I ran the 8 mile course in 1:30 which I thought was not too shabby.

Then we headed over to Arlington to spend the rest of the day with the Ward's at Grandma's house. We had great food and spent time with family playing games and watching the Cowboys.

The highlight of my Friday was going to the American Girl's store at the Galleria with my two little cousins. I kept thinking about when Kara and I got our dolls and we kept trying to peek through the wrapping paper to see if it was really them. We were beyond excited!

The rest of the weekend we stayed in and tried to keep warm as it was freezing cold and constantly drizzling all day Saturday and Sunday. Now sadly I am back at work :( But looking forward to Christmas and my marathon. I am taking this week off from running (I skipped my long run on Saturday) to try and heal my leg a little bit so I can finish my training strong. Only two more really long runs left. Really long means 15 or more miles in my book. I leave you with some photos.

Rock 'N' Roll Arizona!

I have some exciting news! I changed which marathon I am going to run in. I am now going to run the P.F. Chang's Rock 'N' Roll Arizona marathon. It is in Phoenix on January 13, 2008! Justin and I will be staying with the grandparents from January 11th through the 15th. I would absolutely love to see all my Phoenix family out at the race cheering me on! You can read more about the race at this link: http://www.rnraz.com/home.html. The course goes through Phoenix and Scottsdale and ends in Tempe.

After visiting Orlando last week and experiencing the 85 degree, muggy weather, I decided dry, cool Arizona weather would be much better for racing! Plus it will be great to see everyone. The race is really cool too with over 70 live bands on the course. It didn't interrupt my training either since the Rock 'N' Roll is the same day as the Disney marathon.

I am getting really excited although my training is getting tough. I ran 16 miles on Saturday. My longest run yet. I am thankful for my training partners even more as the miles get longer. I was pretty wiped out for the rest of day. This week is 15 miles so hopefully it will be a little easier.
