Weekend Update

This Saturday I ran on the E&Y team in the Tour de Fleurs. It is a 10K race (6.2 miles). The team portion takes the top 5 finishers from a team and counts their times to the total for the team. Our team got first place for corporate teams (my time did not contribute). I finished in 1:06 which was great for me! I ran right at 10:45 minute miles. The race finishes at the Dallas Arboretum so we walked around there and visited all the tents and such that were set up for the race.

This morning I did my first "shadow" day for teaching in the New Creations area at our church. The New Creations area is for newborns through 23 months. I am in the Creation Day 3 room which is 8 to 11 months. I am going to be the lead teacher in that room for the 11:00 service. So we will continue to go to the 9:30 service. We do a curriculum with the babies to teach them about creation, baby Jesus, and something else I can't remember. We are in the creation rotation right now which lasts for 13 weeks. The curriculum is basically singing songs to the babies with props such as puppets and toys that each baby gets to hold their own. The babies were so cute and I had alot of fun.

And now we are off to watch the Cowboys play the Packers at my parent's house.

Curtains and SJ's Birthday

As Crazy Uncle pointed out, the photos I posted were pre-curtains. So here is one of the den with the new curtains and the rug we moved from the living room.

I got a new rug for the living room. I saw it at Kara's house and just had to have it :) So now we have the same one...it looks great in both our homes. Here is a picture of the living room with the new rug.

And just so you can see, here is a pic of Kara's rug in her new living room. Not to discount the rug, but what a cute baby!

This Sunday we had Sophie June's first birthday party. All the fam was there including Kara, Aaron, Walker, Aaron's parents, June and George, my parents, Ben, and Justin and me. Sophie was so cute. She liked all her presents but started to cry every time we took one present away so she could open another one. She dug into her cake! Kara said that is what happens with the second child. The first child has never had cake before their first birthday and doesn't know what to do with it. Then the second child knows exactly how good it is. Sophie loved her big balloon her parents got her. She kept looking up at it and wanted someone to pick her up and let her hit it. Here is a page I made for her birthday (click on the page to see the pictures up close b/c those are the cutest) and some more cute pics.

Fun Happenings

Over labor day weekend, Justin and I tore up the carpet in our den and the linoleum in our kitchen. Then Daddy and Justin laid peel and stick tiles in the whole area. It looks great! While Daddy and Justin worked, Mommy made us new curtains for the den. Thanks for a great birthday present! My birthday was on Friday. To celebrate, Justin, me, Kara, Aaron, and the kids went down to Waco for the Baylor game. We ate at one of my favorite places, Ninfa's. We had fun and Baylor won! Walker loved the game and was mesmerized by everything that was going on. Sophie June hated the Baylor game :( The loud speaker scared her and she cried every time it came on. So they left at halftime. But we stayed for the whole game. We went down for the game last week as well but Baylor lost that one. We got season tickets so there are many more fun times in Waco to come. We are already planning which places we want to eat before each game.

New Look...Again

Ok, I promise I am not blog template changing happy...well, maybe just a little. But the truth is I had switched my Internet Explorer to version 7 and that made the template I made look good on my computer and everyone else's. Then I noticed that I could not submit expenses at work through our program. When I spoke with EY help, I was told the expense system is not compatible with 7. So I had to switch back to 6 b/c reimbursement is more important than blogging (imagine that). I did not want to look at a messed up blog while everyone else looked at a good one. So I changed to a professional template that hopefully works on both. I did customize the header though :) So hope you like the new look. I will post again hopefully tomorrow. I have pictures from last weekend. Justin and I have been sick this week (had to stay home from work for 2 days). So that is the reason for the lack of posting despite many fun happenings!
