Welcome Home!

Today Justin and I went to the airport to welcome home one of Justin's best friends, Jeff. He arrived in Dallas today after spending over a year in Iraq. This was his second tour of duty but now he is done! It was so sweet to see him reunited with his new wife. They got married a few months before he left for Iraq. We had a good time catching up with him and some other friends at lunch and are looking forward to having our friend back in town! I posted some more pics from the marathon on Facebook...go check them out.

Gymnastics and Baseball

On Thursday, my mom and I got to go to the Visa Gymnastics Championships. My mom called me that morning and ask if I really wanted to go...we had talked about going before. She told me to buy the best tickets I could. I got second row tickets right in front of the floor. We went to dinner first and then to the event. We got to see Nastia Luiken, Bridget Sloan, Samatha Piezak, and some new comers Rebecca Bess and Ivana Hong. Nastia stood right in front of us while her rotation did their floor routines. She only competed on beam but it was so cool to get to see her. After the competition, they presented Carly Patterson and Nastia with a special award so we got to see Carly as well. In case you don't know who I am talking about, Carly was the women's all around gold medalist at the 2004 Olympics and Nastia was the women's all around gold medalist at the 2008 Olympics. Then on Friday night, Justin and I went to the Rangers game with his whole family including our new niece, Adah. The Rangers lost but we had a great time catching up with everyone. I finally remembered my camara...so enjoy.

Nastia and Carly

This is one of my favorite pics from our trip. I have a laptop and a second larger screen at work. Right now I have this pic as my desktop background. When I'm not using my second screen, I can just look at this pic and it makes me smile. I think I posted a similar pic before but not this exact one. I love the grass on the sand dunes and the perfect blue sky. It actually looks alot like the sky here in Dallas today...only that day was nice and cool not with a high of over 100!

Library Thing

So I found this new website this week called Library Thing. I love to read especially during the summer when there are no good shows on TV to distract me. But I always have trouble picking books. My main method of choosing my next read is to go to Half Price Books and browse the fiction section until a cover or title catches my attention. That is not always the best method for finding books you really enjoy. Well, Library Thing allows you to input books that you have read and then it comes up with automatic reading recommendations as well as user recommendations. You can also review and rate your books as well as read other peoples reviews and there are lots of discussion forums if you like that kind of thing. I think it is a great idea and on my list of recommendations there are many I am going to check out! The link above takes you to my Library Thing homepage. The new widget on the side bar also takes you there and displays the covers of my books...cute :)
