Scoliosis and Swimming

I went swimming this morning to try and ease the pain in my back. My back hurt all day yesterday. I took tylenol and laid on the couch with the heating pad when I got home from work. Not sure why it was hurting so bad but it still hurt worse than normal when I got up this morning. My friend's sister has back problems related to a slipped disk and her doctor recommended swimming. So I tried it out this morning. It actually went very well and my back is only hurting a normal amount. Plus it was very refreshing. I'm not very good at it and it is actually kind of boring but it seems to have helped. The problem is that my back seems to hurt more when I am inactive. Like yesterday I woke up with it hurting and didn't work out. Then I sat for 9 hours in a training class with limited breaks. Plus it has routinely hurt more since I started working a full-time job. and sitting down all day. That is why I thought swimming might help but have less stress than running. The picture depicts why my back is hurting.

Just because everyone else is doing it, I thought I would post a picture of my new running shoes. I went to a running store and got fitted. The lady watched me walk and then brought out shoes and watched me in all of them. I tried on about 9 pairs but finally decided on these. I absolutely love them! I would recommend everyone get fitted for their next pair. They fit perfect, are light weight, and my feet never hurt.

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony

Justin and I visited the downtown campus of Fellowship Church on Sunday. The downtown campus had been meeting in a school and opened a new building two weeks ago. We had seen the downtown campus and heard good things about the church as a whole. Fellowship is a huge church in Grapevine (which is between Dallas and Fort Worth). They have four satellite churches around the metroplex that watch the pastor on big screens and then have their own Sunday school/life groups/VBS/etc. Justin and I assumed that the service would be your normal, slightly contemporary, service with praise choruses.

Boy were we wrong! As we walked in, we noticed that everyone was dressed really causal like shorts and jeans. But Justin said he had heard that the pastor wears jeans to preach. As the service began, the lights went out and a full band (we're talking real rock band complete with the glass wall in front of the drummer) began to play the Verve's Bittersweet Symphony. This was followed by Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. As the songs played, the screens showed moving colored lights like on the computer. At this point, I thought this has to do with the message. Which at least one did as the message addressed being comfortably numb in your Christian life. However, after the message (the only good part of the service) the band played two more songs. One actually mentioned God although I had never heard it and you couldn't really sing along.

Then they did announcements just like a regular church and the service was over. I have to think that this service was tailored for the downtown crowd and that the other campuses had different services but with the same message. Justin said he knows normal people that used to go to his church that now attend the Grapevine Fellowship. In conclusion, I would not recommend attending the downtown Fellowship Church. However, if anyone wants to go to another campus and let me know if it is the same, that would be great. I am just so curious!

Killing Time

The verdict is in...I'm a blog slacker. Plus I don't have any excuses like some people who blame it on the lack of anything interesting going on or the need for a Bella fix. I'm sitting in the office on Friday afternoon just waiting for it to be time to go home. I only had to work two days this week and there is almost no one in the office. So I finally got caught up at work and even got my desk cleaned up! When I am too busy, the papers and files just pile up.

We had a great fourth of July weekend. We got sunburned at the pool but had fun doing it! We went to see fireworks on the 3rd but they were very short because it got rained out. We went over to my parents on the 4th and had hamburgers and went swimming.

Tonight we are going to the Taste of Dallas. It is right down the street in the West End and features restaurants from all over Dallas. Happy Friday all! I am going to do my time (No smart-aleck comments please. I meant my timesheet.) and then get out of here!

Boo: I hate doing my time :(
Woo-Hoo: I love the weekend!
