Turkey Trot and Pictures

Get ready for a long one...We had a great Thanksgiving and for that matter I had a great week off! I took all of last week off from work. It was great to get stuff done, run in the daylight, and relax. We started off the week by going to Lake Texahoma to celebrate our friend Lindsay's birthday. Then we had a few relaxing days.

On Thursday, Justin and I got up early to head out for the Turkey Trot. I was worried b/c my shin splints had been acting up and my runs earlier in the week were very painful. But I really wanted to run in the Turkey Trot. I had been looking forward to it since last year! So I bought a brace and went out to brave the pain and cold. It turned out to be a great race! It was so much fun to run with over 30,000 runners. I ran the 8 mile course in 1:30 which I thought was not too shabby.

Then we headed over to Arlington to spend the rest of the day with the Ward's at Grandma's house. We had great food and spent time with family playing games and watching the Cowboys.

The highlight of my Friday was going to the American Girl's store at the Galleria with my two little cousins. I kept thinking about when Kara and I got our dolls and we kept trying to peek through the wrapping paper to see if it was really them. We were beyond excited!

The rest of the weekend we stayed in and tried to keep warm as it was freezing cold and constantly drizzling all day Saturday and Sunday. Now sadly I am back at work :( But looking forward to Christmas and my marathon. I am taking this week off from running (I skipped my long run on Saturday) to try and heal my leg a little bit so I can finish my training strong. Only two more really long runs left. Really long means 15 or more miles in my book. I leave you with some photos.

Looking towards the starting line.

You can see me crossing the finish line in the lower left corner with a cap on.

Glad you had a fun Thanksgiving. We loved the elves and the pic of Aaron playing with Walker's tools!

All the photos are nice, but Aaron does win the photo contest. And rest as much as you need so you'll get the right training completed before the R&R marathon. It is a big deal here, so it's cool that I know someone in it.

Yes, the elves are funny!! Not sure what run we are going to do in the bay area as we haven't picked one yet. Looking forward to it though. Can't wait to see how you do on your run.
