Walt Disney World Marathon

I started my training for the Walt Disney World Marathon this week! The marathon is January 13, 2008 and the course covers all Disney parks in Orlando! I am very excited to get started with training and my fundraising. I am training with Team in Training again this season. I am also a mentor this season. I think I have some really good mentees this time around. One of the ladies is in graduate school at UT Southwestern Medical Center here in Dallas. She just finished chemotherapy a few weeks ago. She is also an honored hero with the team. I am looking forward to getting to know her and hoping that she can serve as a constant reminder to all of the team of why we are running as she trains with us. Our first team training is Saturday! We are trying some new things this season to help pair people up with runners that run the same pace. I am also trying to take an active role in helping my mentees with their fundraising. I plan on setting up some group events for all of us. I have already been out to local businesses collecting items for a silent auction. I'm already at $680!! But I have a long way to go to get to my goal of $4,000. I also have alot of miles to run. Our long run this week is 4 miles. My longest long run before the race will be 20 miles!! So I have alot to do between now and then. I added up all the miles on my training plan and in total will run 477 miles while training! Does that get me to Colorado??

I would appreciate any help or encouragement you can provide! Click here to visit my website (better take a look since there is a Ouray picture on it) and click here to visit the marathon website. Anyone is welcome to join me there rather running with me or watching with Justin!

My Exciting Weekend Plans

Well, it is official now! I am tax senior with E&Y. They made the announcements today although through email so again, not very exciting. But I am getting lots of congrats from my co-workers.

We are going over to my parents house tonight for a going away dinner for Benny. he is leaving for Texas Tech tomorrow. Can you believe he is that old?? I know I can't. Then on Saturday we are going to a friends wedding. Other than that, just house cleaning and what not for the weekend.

Oh yeah, Justin and his dad will spend another day in our attic fixing the wiring in our house. We should be getting new plugs in the bathrooms, kitchen, garage, and outside. That means I can dry my hair in the bathroom, use the dishwasher in the kitchen, and buy a garage door opener!

Sshhhh....It's a Secret

Well, technically it's only a secret from my co-workers. I got a promotion yesterday. They are telling us individually but the promotions will not be announced to the firm until next week. I am now a Tax Senior which means I am no longer the lowest man on the totem pole. It wasn't much of a surprise though. In public accounting, promotions are given to a large group of people at once and the new role is always effective October 1. So I guess I still have a couple of months until I am actually a senior. But over the last few months, I have been transitioning to the senior role on many projects already. So the best part is just the promotion bonus and pay raise! I found out the bonus yesterday and will find out my compensation adjustment in September. Most of the staff that started near the time I did will also get promotions. Then we all get to go to training together. We are hoping for a fun destination!

Tomorrow is Activities Day at E&Y. We are going to the Four Seasons in Las Colinas for an activity of choice and then you can use all the facilities like pool and workout room. I had signed up for a spa treatment but evidently my RSVP got lost. So I don't have an activity right now. So I am trying to decide if I go anyway or just stay home?.? Either way it should be a nice day.
