Nike Women's Marathon

I signed up for the Nike Women's Half Marathon today. It is in San Francisco in October. I have been wanting to run this race since basically I heard about it. It is geared toward women with over 95% of the participants being women. The finisher's medal is actually a Tiffany's necklace designed especially for the race and it is handed to you by firefighters in tuxedo's! There is a chocolate mile and pedicure stop along the course. Not to mention the course runs over some of San Fran's greatest spots. So you can tell I am excited.

We have been waiting for registration to open since it sold out in 3 days last year. We is me and Amanda, my sister-in-law. This weekend, they announced that this year it is going to be a random selection process. That means, you sign up and then they draw names for who gets in after registration closes. At least you can sign up as a group so either your whole group gets in or nobody. So I signed up today and now have to wait until April 1st to see if we get in. I'll keep you posted on our status :) Here is the website if you want to know more.

That sounds like a ton of fun. I am going to run in SF next year. It should be tons fun and you can't beat the scenery. I hope you get in. Maybe we can come cheer you on.

Good luck! My sister & I just found out we got chosen for the Nike Women's Marathon this Oct, and we are totally thrilled! This will be our first marathon, and I can't think of a better way to do it. We'll be flying in from NJ & CT in Oct, hope to "see" you there!
